Do you have a good head for numbers without losing sight of the big picture? As a Treasurer you could use your talents to help transform the lives of young people. You will help manage and monitor the financial activities of the Group, enabling the delivery of our life changing adventure.
With an oversight of monthly income and expenditure and presentation of financial information at between four and six meetings a year you would form part of the Executive Committee, a group of volunteer who are Charity Trustees and make some of the most important decisions in Scouting
The Executive Committee in Scouting is like a board of governors in a school; essentially it makes sure that the best quality Scouting is delivered to young people in the local area. The volunteers that make up the Committee give their time to ensure that Scouting continues to meet its charitable purpose: safely and legally
No previous experience of Scouting is necessary. What’s more important is your own skills and experience as well as empathy with our mission and values. We will provide all appropriate training and ongoing support.
All Executive Committee members have different skills to offer, come from different backgrounds and have varying experiences. This helps to ensure a variety of perspectives and a more rounded and effective Executive Committee.
Skills and experience that can help include:
- Financial understanding
- IT skills
- Legal knowledge
- Social skills
- Professional, management or business experience
Executive Committee members come from all walks of life. Most people can become one, but there are some who are not eligible. This includes: Under 18s Undischarged bankrupts Disqualified company directors
